Yelkouan shearwater, Scopoli’s shearwater, European shag, Mediterranean storm petrel and many more seabird species are calling you! They have a story to tell: their life is under threat due to several human activities both at sea and on land. But they are not alone! We are here to help! And now you are here to help!
What are we doing?
-We are monitoring the migration of Yelkouan shearwater -a globally threatened seabird- in both migration bottlenecks: the Bosporus and the Dardanelles (during early February each year)
-Together with fishermen we are collecting data on incidental capture of seabirds (by-catch) in fishing gear in the Aegean Sea
-We are creating scientific baseline to identifying the threats to seabirds -mainly Yelkouan shearwaters- in Turkey
What can you do?
You can support our activities by
-Spreading the word about the fragile lives of seabird and threats they are facing
-Contributing the information about the migration of Yelkouan shearwaters by joining us in coastal counts each year
-Collecting data on seabird by-catch together with fishermen in the Aegean region
-Contributing any seabird research and conservation activities in Turkey
You just need to submit the following contact form!
